We use Cloudflare to manage DNS and take advantage of their robust cloud and security platform. Feel free to read more about it here. Please follow the instructions below to get started:
- If you don't have a ticket or not on an ongoing email thread, feel free to create a ticket here.
- Create a CloudFlare account at https://dash.cloudflare.com/sign-up
-
Invite us to your CloudFlare account: https://developers.cloudflare.com/learning-paths/get-started/account-setup/add-other-members/#add-account-members
- Sidebar > Manage Account > Members
- Invite
- Use the email we send you in the ticket or email thread from step 1.
- Scope Select "Include All Domains"
- Account Scoped Roles: Select "Super Administrator - All Privileges"
Once we have the invite, we will set up the domain. If we have access to your current DNS provider (most times your domain name registrar), we will automatically migrate your DNS records.
If we do not have access, we will need an export of your current DNS records. If you are unable to provide this, we should be able to help you locate this either through a meeting with a screenshare, or through access to your current registrar.
After the DNS records have been initialized, we will need to update the registrar to update the Name Servers to be pointed at Cloudflare.
To recap, here's the overall process we will complete together:
- Create a ticket (you)
- Setup Cloudflare account (you)
- Invite us to join your Cloudflare account (you)
- Export DNS Records from your current Registrar, like GoDaddy (us or you)
- Import DNS Records into Cloudflare (us or you)
- After the import completes, turn off the proxy option to ensure there is no disruption during the migration. We will enable the Proxy feature once everything is ready for the necessary records.
- Change Name Servers from GoDaddy to Cloudflare (us or you)
- Optional: Move your Registrar away from GoDaddy to Cloudflare (us or you)
- If you have a large amount of domains in your GoDaddy account, this is not recommended.
- If the domain we are migrating is the only domain in your account, it might be more simple to move the domain registration to Cloudflare, especially if GoDaddy is not providing any other services such as Email or Hosting
