Craft Licensing

Craft Licenses are perpetual but include 1 year of updates. This means that Craft and any installed plugins can be updated at any time within that year and used indefinitely without paying any additional license fees.

Once that year has passed, your website will continue to work normally and you are still free to login and make content changes and updates without issue. However, any updates to Craft or installed plugins after this point will require license renewals to be purchased which includes another year of updates effective from the purchase date (you don't pay for retroactive updates).

Renewal Fees

We automatically manage the licenses for your site in our Craft Console account. Every site we build varies somewhat in the makeup of the plugins and the version of Craft being used. If you would like to know what the license renewal cost of your site is, reach out to your account manager or create a Help Desk ticket and we will tell you what the cost of the renewal fee would be. 

The Renewal Fee does not include the time required for us to make any necessary software updates and version changes, which will be quoted separately. The fees are transparently passed from our Craft Console account to you through our invoicing.

For example, If we are making a major change from Craft 4 to Craft 5, we will give you an estimate of the level of effort specific to your website, as Craft and other plug-ins often have breaking changes between major versions. 

If we are making minor changes between versions (Craft 4.9 to Craft 4.10), this usually is no more than 1 hour of our time but could vary if any plugins cause unexpected issues.

License Ownership & Transfer

We consider our clients to be the owners of the licenses, despite them being associated with our Reusser Craft Console account. We add it to our account for ease of management and convenience. If you would ever like to take over ownership of the licenses, just let us know the email associated with the Craft Console account where you would like the licenses to be transferred.
